Under the BACT by Model Year compliance path for vehicles with a GVWR of more than 26,000 lbs you can use an Alternative PM BACT Schedule (date trucks must have a diesel particulate filter – DPF). The alternative PM BACT schedule is given below (third column) along with the basic BACT by Model Year PM BACT compliance schedule (second column).
|Date engine must be
equipped with DPF
|Engine Model Year|
|Jan 1, 2012||Pre 1994 and 2003-2004|
|Jan 1, 2013||2005-2006 and 1994-1999|
|Jan 1, 2014||All pre 2007 engines|
So for example, if you own a truck with 1996 model year engine under BACT by Model Year that truck was supposed to have been equipped with a DPF by Jan 1, 2012. Under the alternative schedule you would have until Jan 1, 2013 to retrofit that truck.
Once the vehicles have complied with PM BACT (DPF), they must then meet the 2010 engine emission standard schedule given in the BACT by Model Year compliance schedule.
