Early Inroduction of Newer Vehicle Credit Based on Regulation Adopted on April 25, 2014

Text describing this credit option is confusing. Here is our read. If your average fleet age is newer on a compliance date than it was on Oct 1, 2006 you could get credit towards your percentage PM BACT Phase In obligations. For example:

Oct 1, 2006 Fleet Jan 1, 2012 Fleet
Engine
Model Year
Engine
Age
Engine
Model Year
Engine
Age
1990 17 2005 9
1993 14 2006 8
1997 10 2007 7
2001 6 2009 5
2004 3 2012 2
2005 2 2012 2
Avg Age 8.7 Avg Age 5.5
Credit Amount 16% = 5% x (8.7–5.5)

So in this instance your PM BACT Phase In percentage obligation for 1/1/2014 would be 90% - 16% or 74%. Hence the PM filter obligation would be 74% X 6 trucks = 4.4 trucks or rounded four trucks. So this fleet would meet its 2014 (and 2015) phase in obligation.

This credit expires on Jan 1, 2018.
