The small fleet deferred compliance option applies to fleets that have one to three vehicles with a GVWR of more than 14,000 lbs, where one or more of those vehicles has a GVWR of more than 26,000 lbs. The deferred compliance schedule applies only to those trucks larger than 26,000 lbs. This option may defer the date small fleets have to retrofit their larger vehicle(s) with diesel particulate filters (DPFs).
At its April 25, board hearing ARB kicked back the compliance date 2nd truck by one year and the 3rd truck by two years. The revised dates are as follows.
|No of Vehicles Larger
than 26,000 lbs GWVR
|Vehicle must have DPF by|
|1||Jan 1, 2014|
|2||2nd Vehicle Jan 1, 2016|
|3||3rd Vehicle Jan 1, 2018|
After the vehicles have met PM BACT they then must meet 2010 engine standards according to the BACT by Model Year Compliance schedule, except for any trucks retrofit with a DPF before Jan 1, 2014. Such trucks are not subject to 2010 engine standards until Jan 1, 2023.
